Justification of Topic
Freedom of expression is related to any person in society. It is regarded as a basic human right needed to promote the right of individuals to participate in production of knowledge and it is necessary for everybody to communicate (Balkin,1995). However, 43% have no freedom of speech. 17% of world population enjoys freedom of speech and 221 journalists imprisoned worldwide since 2014 (CEPC001, UTS Insearch).Why the world become like this, the most basic freedom of speech is not possible. There are different social structure components, including teachers,students,politicians, merchants and all walks of life. The nation’s economy,education and military are relative to every citizen. For the society would be better, people need free speech, and let the government know what the citizens’ thoughts. In addition, the governments control the Internet, “secretary of State Hillary Clinton outlined how the United States would promote Internet freedom abroad “( Clay 2011).So free speech is a global topic.
Organizes
A university will be a organizer, and there are three reasons. Firstly, students play an important role in society, students have different religions, cultural backgrounds. These advantages make students have rights easily to comment society. Secondly, university has a certain influence, most of the country attaches great importance to the university. A university organizes this seminar will get more social attention. Finally, students can collect more information and do some researches about this topic, so a university can make this seminar more professional and convinced
Target audience
Everyone should be a audience whatever where ho you are. There are many alleged ‘sensitive topics’, including GLBT, religion, politics, motility and racism.
In Australia, gay lesbian can not get equal rights, GLBT community need gain the equal rights,and people who always be discriminated.People are worried about economy and military. So every one need come this seminar,and stimulate awareness about free speech. Making ‘sensitive topics’ not be sensitive anymore.
Distribution
This poster should be a background of computers in Universities’ libraries. When students watch this in the computers, students will feel a strong feeling.
More and more students come to the libraries, more and more students are influenced by this posters. Post this on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and also can sent this for some groups who always appeals to someone get rights in society. Social media is the most important tool in communicating. If public characters watch this poster, it is more easier to transmit.
Evaluation of finished flyer
This flyer use a bloody picture, which is a women in mouth, which the mouth is decorated with some rails. This mouth is like a prison, and a side of this mouth is locked by a lock and much blood around the mouth.In this picture, with so many implications. For rhetoric tradition, the mouth is like a prison, it means no freedom of expression. The women is bagging to a crane, she want to be free. There are two meaning of ‘free ‘, free in physical and free in speech. she want communicate with outside. It means if people do not have rights to express, people can not communicate . She want to escape from this prison,but she is helpless. Nowadays, many people are like this women, they want to escape from speech prison, they want to get freedom of expression.Unfortunately, they don not have enough power to achieve.In this poster, rhetorical dialogue and some statistics persuade audiences. Let them know, freedom of expression is the most important problem in this world. Freedom of speech is not only able to speak, is more of a view of society and human future.This picture can give those who feel the person is not equal on the freedom of speech some resonance.This flyer dynamically and accurately communicate the important elements of seminar topic.There information including statistic and picture is relative to this topic.Layout is perfect because the compelling picture and striking statistic. The weakness is need put more social media platform on this flyer.
